Knife Skills Classes
Monday February 3rd, or Tuesday March 18th, 7 - 9pm
Need to hone your knife skills, or gain more confidence in the kitchen then this is the class for you. Our chef instructor, will lead you through the different kinds of knives, knife care and techniques and then we let you loose to put into action what you have just learned!

Last February's class with Joel and Dana proved so popular we've asked them to come back and lead us in a follow up class. Basics will be covered but this will also appeal to those looking to expand upon what they already know about fermentation. Joel and Dana created the immensely popular website WellPreserved.ca and have contributed articles to numerous publications, their enthusiasm for this topic is boundless!

Apple Day at The Cookbook Store
Saturday September 28th, 1- 4pm
Our annual apple day is back! We will have heritage apples from Siloam Orchards in Goodwood www.siloamorchards.com for tasting as well as apple based treats from cookbooks.
At 2pm Meet Marion Kane and Adrienne DeFrancesco co-authors of Share cookbook. Sample delicous treats from the book and Marion's famous apple sauce, and she will divulge her recipe and technique which makes her apple sauce a winner!

Summer Pies and Tarts Class with Joanne Yolles
Thursday July 25th, 7pm in The Cookbook Store/Kitchen Studio
Pastry Chef Joanne Yolles, formerly of Scaramouche and Pangaea, is Toronto's pre-eminment pastry chef. "Summer pies and tarts are my all time favourite things to make," says Joanne. The end of July will be filled with the bounty of summer; so don't miss this opportunity to learn about baking pies and tarts from one of Toronto's finest pastry chefs.

Chef Matt Kantor, who was the creative chef behind the infamous 24 course elBulli extravaganza and the Rush themed dinners in the store, will be slicing and dicing up the beguiling multi course menu.

Anupy gave one of the most engaging and informative signings we've ever had for her best selling cookbook The Indian Slow Cooker. So we welcome back this Chicago native and TV personality to top her last appearance with a demo workshop in the Kitchen Studio next door to us. Cool Copenhagen will highlight Danish culture and products in several exciting, attractive and interactive ways. Na-Cl, who are some of Denmark's most talented chefs doing show-cooking, will be preparing dishes on stage for the audience, Bjarke Ingels, from BIG Architecture, will be doing an interactive presentation, and Giana Factory will finish off the night with a concert at the Drake venue. The girlband is recognised as one of the most promising Danish acts. Throughout the evening, there will be several surprises and products shown in unexpected ways. Tickets are $125. Harold McGee is revered in the food community for his writing about the science of food and cooking (On Food and Cooking). There are no tickets available for purchase for this event. Every spectator or participant must raise a minimum of $2500 to attend the event. Remember, only the top 50 fundraisers will earn the ability to show off their culinary skills in the ultimate battle on stage, alongside the all-star line-up of Celebrity Chefs.
