DG: Frank Sinatra.

CB: What was your first car?
DG: 65 Blue Mustang; but Mom and Dad wouldn’t let me have a convertible.

CB: Your favourite junk food?
DG: M&Ms.

CB: What kitchen gadget or piece of equipment can’t you live without?
DG: KitchenAid stand mixer; I actually have 5, all in white!

CB: Your favourite ingredient, or food?
DG: Chocolate.

CB: Most over-rated ingredient, or food?
DG: Truffle oil.

CB: What was the first cookbook you used?
DG: Craig Claiborne’s New York Times Cookbook.

CB: Your favourite authors, doesn’t have to be cookbook authors?
DG: Julia Child, Maida Heatter.

CB: Your favourite city?
DG: Paris, France.

CB: What is your greatest extravagance/indulgence?
DG: Fabulous high-heeled shoes that I can’t wear!

CB: Your favourite movie?
DG: A Man and a Woman.

CB: What was your first job?
DG: Secretary at the Better Business Bureau in NY city. They paid me under scale!

CB: What kind of music do you like?
DG: Eclectic: African, Brazilian, classical.

CB: Your favourite sports team?
DG: NY Nicks.

CB: Your pet peeve when dining out?
DG: Servers who come over and say “You’re still working on that?” Of course I am; it’s so good I’m enjoying it slowly.

CB: Your favourite drink?
DG: White Burgundy.

CB: Who has been the biggest influence on your career?
DG: My friend Margie, who helped me get my first baking job at Soho Charcouterie. When I got fired she said “maybe you should write about it.” I did, and she helped me get the article published.

CB: What four people, alive or dead, would you invite to dinner? (assuming you would invite your significant other to have six around the dinner table!)
DG: Julia Child, Craig Claiborne, Pierre Herme, Daniel Boulud, Billy Crystal, (Michael and the kid).
