CB: The
first album/CD/eight track you bought?
SK: Grease, which was followed quickly by Saturday Night Fever.
CB: What was your first car?
SK: I didn't get my driver's license until I was 34!
I commute in a 1980 electric car, it looks like a Smart car.
CB: Your favourite junk food?
SK: Raisins (CB feels this doesn't really qualify)
CB: What kitchen
gadget or piece of equipment can't you live without?
SK: My 'Man Handle.' It's a jar
opener from the ‘50's. If you have this you don't
need a man.
CB: Your favourite ingredient,
or food?
SK: Cracked pepper.
CB: Most over-rated ingredient, or food?
SK: Saffron.
CB: What was the first cookbook you used?
SK: A vegetarian cookbook originally from the 70's that my mom
had – Laurel's Kitchen.
CB: Your favourite authors, doesn't have to be cookbook
authors?
SK: Douglas Copeland.
CB: Your favourite city?
SK: Victoria, BC.
CB: What is your greatest extravagance/indulgence?
SK: The Go-Go's. (As in the band.) I go to see them all over?
CB: Your favourite movie?
SK: Umm, how about favourite 3? 1. The Wizard
of Oz 2. Saturday
Night Fever 3. Grease
CB: What was your first job?
SK: I was a telephone solicitor for a non-profit groups like Big
Sisters.
CB: What kind of music do you like?
SK: Everything but definitely punk rock.
CB: Your favourite sports team?
SK: Uh, pass.
CB: Your pet peeve when dining out?
SK: Children who aren't well behaved.
CB: Your favourite drink?
SK: Water.
CB: If you could change one thing in the food & wine
industry what would it be?
SK: I wish someone would invent/create a great vegan cheese!
CB: Who
has been the biggest influence on your career?
SK: My fans, because they inspired me to write up the next meals.
And Fergus, my dog (a poodle terrier).
CB: What four people, alive or dead, would you invite to
dinner? (assuming you would invite your significant other to have six around
the dinner table!)
SK: Douglas Coupland, Jane Wiedlin from the Go Go's, Julia Child, and
my mum.
