New Arrivals
Look for the new Julia Child memoir, My Time
in France, in early April.
This is a must for devotees to Julia and even those with a passing
interest. The photos, mostly taken by Paul Child, an accomplished photographer,
are both intimate and artistic. Look for a feature review in our
next
letter.
Heart Smart
Bonnie Stern
Instore signing with Bonnie, Saturday, May 13th from 2 to 3 pm.
Bonnie's latest collection of 400 recipes taken from her three
previous collaborations with the Heart and Stroke Foundation (now
out of print). There are 100 new recipes, also, the 'old' recipes
have all been updated. If you have the old books, as I do, and
were hesitating about getting this new one, don't! It's
definitely worth it. $34.95.
The Best Light Recipe
Editorís of Cook's Illustrated
Turning their attention to healthy pursuits, Cook's provides
their usual tested and developed beyond your wildest imagination
selection of recipes. $44.95.
Luscious: Simply delicious food from Marie Claire

Cranston took the reigns and has acquired her own legion of fans.
Very much
in the style of Donna Hay's books with the gorgeous photography,
easy to follow recipes and accessible ingredient list. $29.95.
Climbing
the Mango Trees
Madhur Jaffrey
Award winning actress and cookbook author this is an engaging
story of growing up in India in an age and society that no longer
exists. Of course the writing is full of food memories, the tastes,
the
smells, the colours, thank goodness recipes have been included! $44.95.
Insatiable:
Tales from a life of Delicious Excess
Gael Greene
Well, continuing on the food memoir genre, which seems to be
growing by leaps and bounds. Although some memoirs should perhaps
stay within the family, this is not one of them. Greene, long time
food
critic for
New York magazine, doesn't hold back. Crossing paths with some
of the culinary greats, Julia Child, Jean Troisgros, James Beard,
Andre Soltner, as well as legendary restaurants, Greene's curiosity
and astute observations make for penetrating reading. $34.95.
Larousse Gastronomique
Originally published in 1938 this book still remains the authority
on cooking reference. Now comes this handsome boxed four volume
set in a much more useable size. Every cook should have an edition
of Larousse on the shelf. Four Volume boxed Set $80.00.
Encyclopedie Culinaire du XXI Siecle
Marc Veyrat (in French)
This stunning boxed
set from Europe's pre-eminent
chef is something to behold. Never mind the fact he could be Michael
Stadtlander's
long lost twin, not only in looks, but also the philosophy of back
to the land! The volume on herbs is particularly noteworthy for
its beauty. Three volumes $525.00.

We decided to carry the red guide to New York City, which lead
us to carrying a few others in the series as well, so if you're
planning a trip let Michelin help you eat well. Here's what we
